The research project Assessing Streetcars' Impacts on Equity and Quality of Urban Life aims to examine the economic benefits and the costs of streetcars in cities across the United States using the lens of equity, economic development and quality of urban life. The main question is: can streetcars be utilized to boost economic development and urban quality of living that is beneficial to all residents? The Problem Statement Inspired by the success of the Portland streetcar, which has helped revitalize urban neighborhoods, streetcars are currently popular infrastructure investments in cities across the country.
